Another week has passed us by that God has blessed us with. Life is so different for us now, and I must say we are enjoying this new journey we are on. It's more than we wished for. The Paddocks are making us feel right at home and like family. Having the priviledges of praying for there needs, Bo taking Joey Sr. and Joey Jr out exploring, and us being invited over to Madelines house for Navajo taco's and meeting her parents are just a few examples.
Monday Madeline and I started our own bible study during the day.We are reading the book, Bad Girls of the Bible and what we can learn from them by Liz Curtis Higgs. Our first lesson was on Eve. I guess what I learned from her was several things: (1) Don't get into a debate with Satan- get out! " Just say No". If he doesn't flee, we can take off running for the safety of the Lord's arms. (2) Know God's Word so you won't be fooled. (3) Whatch out for the Big Three, us women are physical, emotional, and spiritual in nature and all three areas have their weak spots. By identifying our weakness in all three areas, then arming ourselves with biblical defense methods, we can keep from experiencing our own reenactment of the Fall. (4) Don't play the blame game. We have no one to blame but ourselves when we choose to sin. And no one to thank but our Creator when He chooses to save us from our sins...again!
There is one teenage girl at the childrens home at this time, she has been there since mid July, she came over to our home Monday after school. Madeline had asked if I could watch her while she went into Winslow for some groceries. I can not reveal her real name but for the sake of this conversation lets call her Sally. That afternoon Sally was helping me add contacts to my yahoo account, she and I was talking about school and a boy she just met. Sally just accepted our Lord as her Savior a few weeks ago, Praise God!!
She began telling me her story of how she came to NCF and I would like to share this with you so you can pray for her. She lived with her father and step mother. Sally is only 15 she had the responsibilities of an adult at home. One day dinner was not ready when her father arrived home from work and he was upset at the step mother, I guess the step mother ended up taking it out on Sally because it was her job to make sure dinner was ready and the step mother began hitting on Sally like a bunching bag. Sally had taken all she could, I guess this wasn't the first time this had happened, she found enough courage to call the police. When Sally came to NCF she had bruises all over her face, her nose was broken, and she is having trouble with her jaw/teeth. Sally is now thinking that the father she thought she had isn't really her father because how could he just set back and let this happen to her.
I thank God for places like NCF, because the children that come here are from Social Services or the Police Station for cases like these and we are allowed to show and tell them about our Savior and because Sally has met Him and is learning about Jesus she now has hope, peace, and she is seeing the love He has to offer to her. Please keep this young girl in your prayers please pray for guidance and direction for her life.
Monday evenings is our womens Bible Study at Rosetta's home (Bo's wife). Isn't God good..I almost always attended the womens bible study with the ladies from our church back home. The study was always on Thursday nights and when I heard they were changing it to Monday nights I was happy because it helps occupy me and keeps me from missing them. :) So this past Monday was the first study I attended and they are reading about Ester. The study was good but at the end I learned a little more about our Navajo sisters and brothers. See where I come from I always looked at it that you either believe in Jesus or you don't. You were a follower, an antheist, or you just didn't know any better because you were never introduced to whom God is.
Well this night there was a lady that was telling us that she feels like a "bobble head" she feels like her head bobbles back in forth..(these are her words) when she is around her family she hears all about Jesus and how wonderful He is, the when she is around her finance's family all she hears about is the "medicine man". Both familys are pulling her in two different directions they tease her about who is she going to listen to and follow that guy who call himself Jesus or the medicine man and all his rituols. She is not a christian (YET) she said she finds it easier not to follow anyone and she isn't ready to give up different things in her life to follow Jesus. It broke my heart sitting there listening to this 25yr old girl express herself about being pulled in different directions and feeling like she would have to be perfect before she could follow Jesus. I realized right then and there how hard it would be being a Navajo who wants or secretly desires to have a relationship with God.
After listening to her I offered her the best advice I had and that was, she didn't have to be perfect, she didn't have to give up everything to follow God, and she didn't have to give up all her Navajo traditions. I told her to just be friends with Jesus learn to have a relationship with Him, talk with Him, and then in time He will tell her the things she needs to rid herself of. I told her that church is a place where us sinners go to be healed it's our hospital it's not for the perfect because we will never be perfect or sinless. I also told her I didn't know much about this medicine man but I do know that our Jesus could give her the peace she needs in her life.
So please pray for this young lady as well, she is showing some interest, because she is coming to the bible studies. Praise God!
Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty much ordinary days, the boys worked around the grounds, oh...Bo did take them out on the Res to see his wife's family property. They went out exploring some new Mesas, Butes and done a little hunting. The guys had a lot of fun they found a sweat hut and Lil Joey found him a Jack Rabbit.
Thursday we found out there is going to be a Dilkon County Fair, and Bo has been in charge of the faith based tent for Friday. Evidentally there is alot of things that will go on in this tent over the weekend and Friday is all about faith. We are so happy and excited that Bo has been put in charge, this gives us an opportunity to be apart of it and everyone involved can help spread Gods word! I don't know a whole lot about it right now except we (NCF) will have a booth setup in this tent as well as other local Christian Church's and Bo is lining up different Christian artist to sing, which New Life Worship team was on the invite list however, Pete didn't think they could make it! Bo's was even going to give New Life the closing act!! Maybe next year. :) ( I wish)
Thursday nights are also Bo's discipleship class for anyone and everyone, they do have a need for childcare at this time so Joey and I have decided to open our home up for this need. Joey Sr and Joey Jr was able to bless James this week by fixing his truck he thought it was going to cost him alot of money to get this fixed, however Joey knew just how to fix it! Friday the family has received some sad news that a family member named Monica Jo had passed away. We are still not sure of the cause but they are thinking it may had something to do with her liver. Monica was in her 40's and she had lost her father a couple of months ago. Her fathers death was caused by a horse accident. The horse got spooked and through him off however, his foot got caught in the stirups and drug him. This family needs prayer of peace and strenght to get through this.
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
We ourselves have prayer request also, please continue to pray for God's direction and infinite wisdom. Pray for financial support and strength to fight through the negative actions and to see something positive in everything that happens around us. Please pray for the children that have not yet came to the childrens home.
Thank you all that are following our blog and are interested in what God is doing out here in AZ and in our lives as well. We know we will grow much deeper and closer to God and we are very thankful for this priviledge! We Love and Miss You,
