"Gone With The Wind"

Well, I referenced “Field of Dreams” in my last blog and now I will stay with that theme. This week's movie is “Gone with the Wind.” It has been so windy here the past three weeks. It will stop long enough for us to get the floor swept and mopped, and the window seals cleaned, then it starts back up again.

It's like a sand blizzard. With snow, warm weather will melt it away, but sand has to be cleaned. Not only is the cleaning process keeping us busy, it is testing my patience. It got so bad Tuesday that the freeway shut down and all the empty parking lots turned into truck stops.Pray for a break from the wind for us. I thought the weather in the Ohio Valley was fickle, but we've dealt with snow, sand-storms, mud and just about everything else.

Sand is not the only thing the wind brought in. We recently welcomed a 6 and 7 year old brother and sister to the Children’s home. “They are just cute” (Navajo Lingo) I heard their mother was arrested and that it was alcohol related. The police had to pick the kids up from school. Angie took them to school Tuesday morning and the little girl didn't want to leave her side. Angie walked her to class and stayed with her until it started.

The little girl kept asking Angie, “Are you going to be at the bus stop to get me? You won't forget will you?” They sounded like they were words from a little girl who had been forgotten a time or two in her young life. Pray for us that we can introduce this child to our God. Pray that we can make what the Lord says in Joshua 1:5 stick in her mind. “No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Even though Tuesday nights are usually for the older kids, Angie invited them down with us and they played and had a ball.

In other Dilkon news, the chief from the Luepp fire station taught a CPR class here on May 10. It was held in the conference in the administration building. He had about eight people, but there may have been a few more go in that I didn't see. I guess I brought up CPR, because it is a way to save lives and that reminds me of what Angie, Lil' Joey and I are doing here. The Fire Chief is teaching them how to save some who is struggling and we feel God is using us to build up Navajo Christians so they can go out and save their peoples eternal lives. Kind of teach them CPR (Christ's Powerful Resurrection!)

I hope you are covering us in prayer because we need it. I remember George talking about showing up at church singing the first song, looking down at the bulletin and seeing his name down to give communion meditation. That's the way I felt Monday night when Bo called with very little time before he was supposed to lead Bible study. There were more than 30 people there and in addition to the message I am sure they heard my knees knocking together from the nerves. I did a message on Matthew 7:24-25, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (25) The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” I tied these verses with the three little pigs.

I went through it very quick, but I have decided that I am going to prepare a few studies to have on standby for the next time I am called I will be ready to go. The next night, Tuesday, we had more than 70 people and it is pretty intimidating for me to be standing in front of that many people and telling them about our Lord and Savior. So I need much prayer for the lord to help me with the fear of speaking.

We also need prayer for our car. I know it needs a coolant fan and there is something going on with the anti-lock brake system. We don't have the money to fix it right now, but I know He will provide a way.

I told you I was going to blog more often. ;-)

God bless you all, and Love Much!

Joey & Family
